Tools of Adobe Photoshop
To give you a quick note on using Adobe Photoshop, here are some basic notes on using Adobe Photoshop tools. Not only these notes will help you to understand the application but also give you appropriate ways to fix problems.
Upon launching the application, a window will appear. It will ask you to either Open a document or Create a new document. To create a document/picture, you will need to insert the Width, Height, Pixels, and format.
There is also a preset documents types and sizes that you can choose from.
On the bottom right side, you will find the layers. Layers are the most important part of Photoshop. This is the place where you can make changes to the picture. The numbers of layers can differ accordingly to your project.
You can select a layer, duplicate a layer, delete or move layers.
V (shortcut key) used to move any layer, area, or the entire picture. This is one of those tools that were available in earlier versions of Adobe Photoshop.
The tool has a simple execution. Click on the tool and select the area and press the ALT key to remove the selected area.
M (Shortcut Key), users can create a dotted line rectangle used to select a region of the image. Users can move that rectangular area to another picture, layers, or the same picture but different areas. Clicking on the icon will also open other tool options like the Elliptical tool for circle and oval shape.
L (Shortcut Key), Lasso tool is to make a freehand selection. You can use it to isolate any part of an image easily or change an image’s background.
Lasso tool selects any area without the limitation of any fixed shape. Polygonal Lasso tool and Magnetic Lasso tool are the other types of the Marquee tool. These tools have different functions but the same purpose.
Quick Selection Tool
W (Shortcut Key). A similar tool exists in the same box named Magic Wand. As the name suggests, if you click on a certain area with Magic Wand, it will automatically select the other whole area relating to it.
Color Switching tool– the simplest way to use colors on a picture. There are two sections; a foreground and background color. There is a separate color tab, which contains tons of colors. Users can choose their favorite color.
Eye Dropper tool– I (Shortcut Key). Suppose you want to pick a specific color from an image, then Eye Dropper will do it for you.
C (Shortcut Key). It helps you to cut or resize any image or picture. The Crop tool has other types, such as; Slice tool, which users can use to crop images into multiple smaller parts, or the Square tool, which cuts in a square shape, or the Slice Select tool capable of custom cropping.
In newer versions of Adobe Photoshop, you will also find Perspective Crop Tool. This tool will help you crop an image at a certain angle without changing the size of the picture.
T (Shortcut Key). Users can use it to add text to any image. Text tool provides many different options for writing such as; Font family, Font style (which includes bold, italic, light-medium, bold italic….), font size, initializing, the strength of the edge blending, color, warp (axis in vertical or horizontal), text size field, or changing the perspective (by dragging your mouse from left to right).
B (Shortcut Key). The brush tool is the most common in Photoshop; Users can use it to paint on a blank layer or over an image. The brush tool consists of other types like the Pencil tool that works almost like a pencil, a Color Replace tool to replace the color with a new one, and Mixer Brush to mix colors. Besides this, it also has other options to change the size of the brush, opacity(transparency), edges, or shape so that users could do editing in detail.
Y (Shortcut Key). History brush allows the users to go back in history change their brush to its initial state.
W (Shortcut Key). One of the most used tools when it comes to selection is the Pen tool. Since this tool brings so much freedom and eases, almost everyone uses it to make those complex selections. There are other types, like Freeform Paint tool, Pen tool, Curvature Pen tool, and many more tools to anchor the points accordingly, enabling you to draw anything freehand.
Paint Bucket tool
G (Shortcut Key). If you want to paint an entire area with a single color in a single click, then the Paint Bucket tool will do it for you.
G (Shortcut Key). Another type of Paint Bucket is the Gradient tool. The Gradient tool colors an entire area with not only one color but also two or more than two colors. The Gradient can be in many different shapes such as linear, star, or even an option to look 3D.
E (Shortcut Key). Users can use it to erase any area in a picture; it works like a brush but only removes it. Different types of eraser tools are present in Adobe Photoshop. There is Basic Eraser (works like a brush but removes the spot area of the picture), Background Eraser (for removing background images), and Magic Eraser (that uses an advanced AI to remove one whole same looking area).
Spot Healing brush– used to fix all the wrinkles, pimples, or any other problem on a picture.
Red Eye tool– You can fix pictures with red eye caused due to flash lights with this tool.
Clone Stamp tool– Users can copy one part of a picture and brush it on over the other parts. It also has other for clone size or softening or hardening of the brush.
Dodge, Burn, and Sponge tools can lighten, darken or soaks the color of an images.
Blur, Sharpen, and Smudge can make a picture blurry or clearer.
Direct selection tool– for moving shapes, layers, or masks. If you have edited a shape, then this tool will help you.
Zoom tool– Z+Alt (Shortcut Key). The zoom tool allows the users to zoom in or out of a picture. Scrolling the mouse can also zoom in or out.

Adobe Photoshop CS

CS4 was the first Adobe Photoshop product that supports x64 systems. This was also the version where users could provide depth to layers and texts.
